We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the current state of affairs in our community and world. One of the first steps in making change is to acknowledge that we are a White-owned company that recommends restaurants and bars. We are extremely privileged to have the opportunity to frequent our favorite restaurants and recommend them to you. The next step is to research in order to unlearn everything we were taught as White individuals. Because we are first and foremost and app that celebrates food, we recommend reading about the history of African American foodways because a lot of the dishes you eat at restaurants were influenced by and/or appropriated from African American food culture. And to be honest, we don’t hear enough about Black-owned restaurants. If you want to taste the history firsthand, the following are Black-owned restaurants that you can explore and support!
